The rusty hulk was created by 73z1
It was a beatiful November day, I drove out to Pennsylvania and stayed in a motel over night.
The next morning I was sitting in a tall chair at a counter lined with tall chairs watching the big screen tv.
The news man was reporting, big snow storm coming Tuesday morning at 7 am.
I pickup up the bike and headed for home.
When I left Pennsylvania and entered Ohio the temperature started to drop and I turned on the heater.
An hour later it started snowing hard, wind was blowing from the west and snow was coming at me and bouncing off windshield.
A blizzard, soon after just two black lines on road and snow everywhere, then black lines were covered.
I followed two trucks through Ohio on I80.
I left Indiana and entered Michigan snow stopped, roads were empty.
I stopped at Michigan welcome center on I69, rest area full of trucks for the night, no cars.
I went inside, place empty, just me.
I was thinking back to the big snow in 67 and delivering papers.
Called home, be home soon ...

Me thinks we are all gluttons for punishment! It just proves no bike is beyond saving. If you are determined enough. You know, REALLY determined!

The Dreaded Z-Bug strikes again!

The Dreaded Z-Bug is insidious! It causes a transition in those those who suffer from it to hear things that normal people can't, and also makes targeted, sometimes-not-so-subtle changes to certain cognitive areas of the brain regarding only vintage Z1's.

Some might say mild hallucinations.

As examples of Things Heard, take for instance, the sounds the kickstart lever makes when swung out to check if the motor is stuck. Most Standard Citizens will just hear two sounds; a slight rusty grind & then a click as (if?) the ball drops into it's detent. One inflicted with Dreaded Z-Bug will hear only two distinct words: "Help Me!"

As to Things Seen, cognitive changes often twist the thought process, regardless of challenging visual input, into concluding "That'll buff right out", "No problem! I'll have it done in a jiffy!", and the classic "But honey, it's a bargain!".

Overall, the manifestation is not unlike that of the attraction to scruffy puppies & abandoned kittens, but without the warm fuzzy cuddly aspect.

A more recent, as yet un-named strain afflicts others, making them vulnerable to more recent air-cooled Z-bikes.

There's no known cure for The Dreaded Z-Bug. Most users self-medicate by applying additional Z-bikes, eventually building a collection of bikes that, while seemingly inanimate, are in reality slightly parasitic, draining the sufferer of financial and attention resources and, causing possibly the most serious hallucination of all, that which makes the individual believe they actually enjoy being hosts to these fine old bikes.

Welcome to the club, 73z1! You're in good company. Looking forward to updates.
