Dunno how many people from on here make it up to my old stomping grounds, but I've had a lot of fun on this 25 mile stretch of pavement.

maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&sadd...99,0.883026&t=h&z=10

It's basically a tourist attraction, known as the "Tunnel of Trees". It follows the shoreline along lake michigan, has 2 VERY fun hairpins, and offers scenic views throughout. Plus, if you keep going past Cross Village on up to Sturgeon bay you get some beach time, then back to Cross Village for the best polish food you've had at Legs Inn. Follow that up with the return trip on the same stretch as the sun is setting just in time to get back to Petoskey for whatever else you like.

I lived in petoskey for most of my life, and have driven that stretch more times than I can count (In my subaru)

And if your up there, another very fun one though probably a little too hairy at speed on a bike is North Shore Drive (A.K.A. 7 hills).

maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&sadd...99,0.110378&t=h&z=13

The only thing about seven hills is that there's a bit more dirt on the road, the corners are much sharper, and there are more houses. Hence the reason I usually only go there later in the summer, after the tourists have left. Less to see, but a much more technical course.

I've got some pictures from 119, i'll upload them as soon as I can find my portable hard drive.

So, if your up there, this should provide a little more excitement than running up I-75.

Great post. It's good to see areas to ride that differ from most others. Sometimes you find great places by accident too. I'll bet it's cold in there even in summer.

Couldn't find any of the views, but these'll get you an idea of what the twisty bits are like:

But trust me, this place is known for the views, just google "Tunnel of trees"

Nice ! Barely a two lane road. Reminds me of a road in California I rode once. Real pucker factor.:woohoo:

Wow! Wish I would have read this post before I left today. I would have insisted we ride further up. I just got back from an all day ride to Harbor Michigan at which point we stopped ate and had some libations. I would post pics up but this format is a beast so if you guys are interested hit me up on facebook. I think I downloaded at least a 100 pics. I will put just one of them up as I am stuck on the most beautiful girl in the world. Everyone should have a girl like this at least once in their lifetimes. We just happen to be the lucky few who know her intimately well.

Oh yeah, forgot what a pita this was to spend a good part of my day trying to resize and post.
You can check them all out on facebook if you look up Kawboyz Chicago Area KZ Riders. There are over a hundred and it took less than five minutes as opposed to the two hours I would have spent here resizing and posting. ;) Michigan is incredibly beautiful! How far up is it from Harbor Mich to that place you were talking about?

Well, if your in Harbor, and head out of town west on the main road, i'd say about a mile.

Seriously, Harbor is where it starts. You drove into harbor on M119 (I assume, as it's the only major road into harbor springs). As your driving through town, M119 makes a right at a stop sign and goes up a hill, its about a mile or two down that the fun starts.

Ouch dude, you were right there!

There's a link to a map in the first post, you'll see it goes right through, and on around the coastline.

Wow. All I can say is that if the guys weren't so willing to sit at a restaurant for 3 hours we would have ridden at least another 100 miles in that direction. Oh well, there is next summer and I fully intend to make it around the lake at least once.;) Thanks for the info. I will pass it on to these guys. Where abouts do you live?
