Looks like heads you win / tails you win. Both bikes look really nice! Ed

Thanks Ed. The Blue one "Bro'" is still under 'construction', but roadready rideable and still in the fine tuning stages until the next phase begins. But Cracklin' Rosie won the coin flip so off we went up Sunrise Highway and over Mount Laguna to Julian, Ca. and Lake Cuyamaca. Anyone who has been up this stretch of So Cal's twisties can attest to the awesome scenery and altitude views along S1.

Scenic turnouts along the way.

Main street Julian, California. Spring to Fall, Julian often resembles a 'little Sturgis' as I call it because it's a popular rest stop for riders coming from several directions.

Then back south to Lake Cuyamaca...

130 mile round trip. An amazing day trip. Anyone ever in this part of So. Cal with a liking for scenic vistas and altitude changes should ride these twisties. They will be very glad they did. .............................Mike

I rode by the turn off to Julian on my way to Slab City. About 1/2 way there. Looks nice.

I will look how far it is. Always breezy up here. It really cools down up here as you rise in altitude. Hwy S2 is another route to the Julian area from here that I've only taken once a few yrs ago...Down the mtn to Occotillo, then back to the west (nw) edging the desert. www.motorcycleroads.com/75/109/Californi...iego-Highway-S2.html

I could see it was a good day for a ride. A little cooler and little wind. I have a project I'm working on but I wanted to RIDE. I got one.

Ha! I was going to say the same thing as Ed about either or your bikes wins.

Really nice looking ride. Thanks for the photo travel. I'm envious of those mountain rides. Nothing like that here in central Texas. My largest altitude transitions happen at the bottom of my driveway. :P
That town of Julian reminds me of a TV show I used to watch called The Andy Griffith Show. Looks really quaint like maybe Andy or Barney might roll around the corner at any time.

Glad you got in the wind on such a nice day!

Yeah WM, I know central Texas from my young years from Temple to the Ranger/Cisco area. Nearby Imperial Valley is a vast area of arid desert reminiscent of Texas terrain with endless miles of straight and seemingly endless flat roads through desert dunes and irrigated agriculture that's fed from what's left of the Colorado river down to 200ft below sea level and the Salton Sea. Palm trees, rattlesnakes, turkey vultures, dirt devils and cactus, with distant mountains on both horizons attracting riders from all over the region for the mtn twisties and cooler temps much like South Dakota's plains, the Badlands and the distant Black Hills on the horizon all in one view. But be warned when riding through it that the summertime heat can brutalize aircooled bike engines. Clouds and rainfall can be a rare occurrence between Spring and Fall. .......................................Mike
