81 KZ305 Looking for a better headlight

The stock headlight puts a spotlight shaped circle of light on the road that is not very bright. I am looking for bright and wide.
High beam seams adequate, but I don't get to use it much. This stock headlight is rated 35w low/ 55w high.
Is there a sealed beam 55w/60w light that will be plug and play with the existing bucket? I could replace the entire headlight assembly if necessary.
I'm a bit skeptical about going LED. Reviews seem to be mixed. Also, I want to keep the stock look of the bike.

The headlight below is what I had before I had a mishap and broke it, I still cry about that to this day!!!

You'll be able to filter out a lot of the junk by looking at DOT-approved headlights from reputable (or at least recognizable) brands.

I get the desire to keep the stock look, but the headlight is a big enough safety feature that I want the best practical option. Lighting has made a lot of progress in the past 40+ years; I'll take advantage of that wherever possible.

Cross referencing from Partzilla it appears that the 305 headlight is also used in a range of 400 s and 440s. Partzilla- kawasaki - year - model - headlight + bits and then "where used" will give you a list. If you can find a sealed beam that fits a 400/440 it should work. Just double check.

i found a Wagner sealed beam much better than stock and a great price but it would not fit a 305.

This can be a little dangerous. If the wiring is designed for 35/60W, you're adding a lot more to the 35W circuit than was intended. Chances are nothing will happen and it will be fine, but there always a chance that wires could heat up, melt, or even set on fire. The switches on these are quite simple, there's no relay and all current goes through the switch which can also be a weak point.

I would recommend going for an LED bulb. They don't all look like spiders from the future, and you can get bulbs that just plug into the existing bucket. LEDs draw less current for the same amount of light. LEDs also have a significant advantage on old bikes. Whereas incandescent and halogen bulbs are dependent on voltage, which after 40 years on old wires is likely to have dropped significantly, LED headlights are dependent on current which is controlled internally, so a normal voltage drop won't result in a significant drop in power like you see with incandescent and halogen bulbs.

My brother bought a round led headlight for his KZP from this company. (He previously had one from Trucklight brand which flickered at low rpm then eventually burned out).
The Dapper led headlight looks like a stock sealed beam but is brighter, doesn’t flicker and throws an excellent pattern. They ain’t cheap and for my brother to say it was worth every penny is testimony more than you know.

Since the stock light has a 50w high beam, I thinking the wiring and switch for 55/60w will be OK. The wire for high and low beam are the same gage.

Motorcycle hi/low Led H4 is all you needed. Plug and play with existing socket / lens / wiring and switches. 

A kz305 does not use an H4 bulb. it is a sealed beam headlight.
The headlight I ordered is one that contains an H4 bulb, so once I get it installed, if I'm still not satified, I will be able to try an LED H4 bulb.
Most H4 LED bulbs have seen have a heat sink. Will they get enough cooling in a headlight bucket?
