1979 kz1000 b3

I am restoring a 1979 1000 kaw b3. I am very experienced with the 70s Kawasaki s. But I am stumped on how the neg batt cable is routed.. I looked all my repair manuals (don’t have a Ltd supplement) but can’t remember how it runs to the motor ground. I have a nos cable coming   I have one picture of it coming off the battery .            There about three ways it can go but I want it as factory as I can get it (ocd) so if anyone has a pic or knows how it goes I would appreciate it! Thanks 

The ground attaches to the right side of the engine just above the kick starter. Check link below.

I know the attachment point on the motor. I just can’t remember the factory routing. It has a 90 degree lug off the battery and heads left than has to come around to the motor mounting point. But does it go under the air box stay or does it sneak under the air box or in between the frame and rear master cylinder?? All I have in the factory assembly manual is a picture of the top of the battery with the   Cable going left from neg battery terminal ,,than the picture gets to dark to see where it goes next.. I can’t figure how to post pics, but the factory neg cable is #26010-054. And I have one coming. Thank you for the reply!!

Battery negative should be on the RH side of the bike. 

There aren't a whole lot of options.  This is a photo of my B4.  You can see where the cable attaches to the battery and then drops down to the ground bolt on the engine.  I'm using a Z1 air intake system, which gives me more room and is easier to install.

 

There is no problem or disadvantage to routing the negative cable like best fit. Function leads form.....

I’m not looking for the best or easiest way, I’m looking for the Kawasaki way.lol The bike was a true barn find that was untouched except for a dealer installed back rest,(no batt or batt - cable )one owner with dealer bill of sale and title. So I’m trying to keep it as O.G. as I can. It sat long enough that stem bearings were locked. I’ve gone through the motor and carbs  put new bearings and seals in everything ,replace cables with new old stock, re striped and cleared it. Way to much time and money in it, but it is like one I had a lot of fun on in high school.. Hard rock’s b4 has the same neg cable, but on the assembly book pick and owners manual pic, it shows the 90 degree cable end pointed so that the cable comes off the battery term going left to about the middle of the batt and going down out of sight. I worked on these bikes at our dealership back in the day , but just can’t remember how they go, nothing looks right..lol thanks again!!

I know,, I painted the stator cover and points cover like a b4 not a b3 ,, but just like the look..   Can get the battery cable picture to work????

Here are a couple of screen shots from the 1979 supplement, P 249 and 251.  The first shot shows the cable coming off the battery and running downwards behind the brake reservior.  The second shot is similar to the first one but it also shows where the cable winds up on the engine.  You can visualize how it got there, but it looks identical to the earlier photo I posted.
