I might have one up here in R.I. I bought a bike with a blown engine a few years back for parts. I believe it's an 81 kz 550. It has a rod blown through the front of the engine. I know I don't have any paperwork for it though. It was abandoned in a parking lot.

Probably wouldn't work only because of the no title situation. In a perfect world I find a local clean title bike or else I ship one if I find it too far or someone on here has one with docs.

Ended up driving a few hours away to get a 81 LTD. Has what is supposed to be a 750 front. Calipers need rebuilt so if anyone can identify what year or bike they might've come from that would be swell. Planning on chopping the frame rear of the tank and shaping it like the 550A. Probably gut the wiring harness while I'm at it just debating on if I hide a battery or stick to lead acid. Bummer I couldn't find a 550a frame anyways here's your update on my search.

Original engine has less compression loss and I replaced all the seals already which are also leaking on the new engine. Both bikes had bent clutch pushrods. New bike had the crankcase vent tube going to open air same for the vacuum hoses on the carbs. Left coil pack has a massive crack down the length of it. Looks like the chain broke at some point the guard is missing and part of the case is broke off albeit not an important portion. Swapping engines now. Rebuilding calipers and forks Sunday. Building a new wiring harness whenever I find time. Have some shadow rear coilovers to throw on and drop it 2" hopefully not too harsh of a ride. Chopping the subframe and calling it a day.
