thx for sharing the old kz ads. i thought the script was really well done.

if its a pretty serious/expensive rebuild, you might consider improving the handling with a frame brace kit and modern steering/swingarm bearings.

i'd also suggest 'evaporust' for removing rust from any of the chrome. its not cheap but very effective and convenient to use/store. but if the parts are badly pitted, they'll still have to rechromed.

good luck with the project!

Thanks Duncan.

I'm going for a restoration, so no custom parts will be installed.

I think there's a 'Document' section here, Mods are more than welcome to post the ad there.;)

I've been sidelined for a bit on this bike. I'm ready to refinish the frame but can't decide whether to rattle can (PJ1) it myself or send it somewhere to get sprayed.

Are there any other brands besides PJ1 you would recommend?

You're gonna ride it.
I'm gonna ride mine(Z1A)

Plan is.
Clean frame and spray with quality enamel. $5 or so.
Order spokes and rims from Z1 if I can't find some good used. $350
Beg on forums for:
instrument mount and housing
handle bar
front caliper
everything that's chrome (it's ALL rusty) fenders, headlight ears, headlight, fenders, etc.
maybe even a chain oiler
I'm keeping factory paint. It's faded and worn but it's an old bike.

Just have to finish up some other projects first. Right now working on replacing stolen tools and wishing evil upon the thief.

Hell yeah I'm gonna ride it!

Pretty much everything for my bike is there. Some rust on a few chrome pieces but I see there are replacements for those. I will be sending the tank and such out to get painted the factory colors.
