Beauty Ron!
I don't think you overpaid even if it was more than a decade ago. It wasn't easy to find one that nice back then either.
What made you decide to break it out of hibernation at this time...just out of curiosity?
ps: the *motto* of Motorcycle Classics magazine is "Don't hide 'em...ride 'em"...or is it "Ride 'em, don't hide 'em" - well either way.
I think of that sometimes when I break out any of my bikes since their all kinda old...just like me.

Thanks for the comments. Every Summer goes by and I just never get around to getting it out. My girlfriend has been pushing every year for me to finally get it out so I broke down and finally rode it. It stays in one of those zip up covers with drypac in it. No deterioration from sitting that long at all.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

That thing is flippin' sweet!
I'm betting it'll run.
It's one of my collection I bought for $2000 back in 1994 and it's been sitting a long, long time. I guess $2000 is a lot of money for a KZ650, but this bike was never fooled with. No add ons, nothing changed anywhere which is very rare. As to will it run? Well 1810 mile KZ650 is now 1831 miles so yes it ran, and ran great. Dang that's a nice bike. Just like they were in 1978.

Jeez, but that's a pretty bike. Looks better than new.
But your sig line says you've got 2 '78 650s. Is this a thrid one? If so, two's probably enough. PM me if you want to divest.

I do only actually have 2 1978s. This one and the one with 167,000 miles on it. The paint eventually went downhill on the high mileage one so I bought a new tank and tail for it. Later I bought my beater 1977 for $150, of course repainted, and as we all know that just does not work for me so to make a long story short I bought another parts bike that surprisingly had real nice blue side covers on it, used those and my old tank/tail and made my 1977 blue and it looks presentable from a distance. I must be the nut of the world because if you look in the shed where I'm taking the picture from and another shed out back I have my two 1977 KZ650s, two 1978 KZ650s, two KZ1000s, H2, and for parts and other unknown reasons 2 more H2s, 2 KZ650SRs, KZ550, two 1977 KZ650B, four 1978 KZ650B, 1978 KZ650C, 1979 KZ650B, KZ900LTD plus whatever is out in the yard, another KZ650 and another H2, plus boxes of stuff and stuff hanging by the rafters people have given me over the years. Yes I am rather unusual.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Thanks for posting that last one Ron. I will let my wife read it asap.
She thinks I *could* be a little daft for owning 3 bikes and some *essential* spare parts. :woohoo:
It's guys like you who make me look so tame...
Really though, your collection is admirable and I'm sure provides mucho enjoyment...do you happen to be married?
Thought so...
