Splitting the Projects forum into Custom and Stock sections sounds easy, but it's really not as those lines can get quite blurry. How many parts are replaced/upgraded before a bike goes from "stock" to "custom"? Seat? Lights? Tires? Chain? Paint? Case in point, neither of my bikes are 100% stock, but I don't consider them customs either.
Like KZCSI says, it gets a bit tricky for us moderators to figure out which forum a project may belong to. Invariably, topics get started in the "wrong" place and we move them (like this one may be better placed in the About the Site forum) to where they're a better fit. Yet, I don't want to slight anyone that is aiming for "stock" by moving their thread when I think it's a better fit in "custom".
Stein, kzrider, makes the final call on site changes. For now, it seems to me that we should continue to show off our bikes in the Project forums and use a descriptive subject. The good projects do get the views and replies they deserve. Having a blend of philosophies in the forums has made me quite appreciative of the work that goes into all of these projects and this comes from seeing the results of restorers and custom builders mixed with each other.

How much work to split a main category into finer increments?
For example, there are really 3 chassis categories that require different approaches when modifying them.
Sport, Drag & Cruiser
If you had a chassis main category with maybe those 3 subcatagories, it might be easier for guys to find information related to their current project.
Just a thought. Whatever works for the mods and the majority works for me.

im with fossil as well maybe two custom forums would work like maybe a cruiser/chopper/bobber forum and then a streetfighter/performance forum. i think streetfighter and performance could go well together because performance is part of a fighter and looks are secondary. also choppers, cruisers, and bobbers are no offense but of the same feather so they should fly together. just some suggestions. go to 750turbo.com the site has performance racing and tuneing sections. im not asking to split us all up we all love air cooled in- line kawis. just some suggestions if we all stick up for this i think we can make KZRIDER a better forum for us by us.

We already have streetfighter section, it's called "projects". Add another catagory for streetfighter you'd just have 2 of the same thing.

I also like the idea of 2 Project catagories:

Custom

Projects is probabably a little cluttered up for those that are into custom projects I suppose- the "custom" forum will probably overwhelm the "restore" forum, big time, because about 99% of the work I see done on this board is NOT to restore the bike, but to make it work better.
I vote for a "custom" forum and just let everyone post custom bikes on that one- so we don't have to screw with definitions too much.

Hey CR,
"because about 99% of the work I see done on this board is NOT to restore the bike, but to make it work better"
Probably true but if you're correct we don't really need a new forum for the remaining one percent, do we.
Let's just change the name of the forum to Custom Mods.
I'm not serious. I still believe the Projects forum is sufficient.

Hmmm, I hear you, a more accurate name for the forum rather than a new forum then?
