I've bought and sold 650's in all states of repair. The most I've ever paid was $1000. This is the bike I still ride today and I realize that if I sold it now I'd do good to get my $1000 back, with hte Kerker and 29 smooth bores. A 650 that is not brand new with less than 1000 miles just shouldn't go for $3000. At the same time, I bought a 68 hard tail Triumph for $1000 and everyone said I was goofy! If you can afford it, you want it, YOU think it's a good deal...I won't make fun of you.

after reading all of your good advice (mostly by fastestz1) i decided against comming anywhere close to his asking price.
fastestz1 was right.
$3000 and i need to change the motor to make it fast? thanks dude!
i have chosen to finish the 1261 instead.
for close to 3 large, i could have something close to this

i rode tonight with the local rochester kz group and made up my mind.
steve's bike will be his own monster.
i want to thank all of you for your advice, good and bad.
that is EXACTALLY what i asked for and this group came through for me again.
saved me $2500!
ron, thank you for your restraint on the paint work!
that is the only thing i liked about that bike. but for that money, i can try to match a period correct paintjob.
bottom line, thank you to all who responded and made me wake the f@ck up!
i am passing on this and going forward on the 1261 the way i want it.
pictures comming soon since i have a ton saved.
start to finish will be over the winter.
stay tuned!
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.
