Dial Bore Gauge.
Search youtube for clearer instructions. If the video shows someone setting it up with a micrometer, thats what you need to watch. You cant use a caliper.

I never thought to look on youtube, but there is a great official Mitutoyo video showing a number of different borehole gauges.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I'd like to throw my 2 cents in
Your on the right track using the bore
Gauge, you'll want to slide the dial indicator
Up or down on the shaft until you have no more than one turn on the dial face ,the more times the needle goes around the more it compresses the spring, when retracting it has a better chance of snapping back and loosing calibration
As mentioned before, the kz bores are unfortunately a bit sloppy and sometimes out of specs
There's nothing wrong with using the honed
Bottom part of the bore for a comparison
If your using a mic then you need to measure the piston to understand the true clearance, you might not like what you see, remember this was 70s transportation
Not a 2020 H2R...LOL

The 2 " to 3" mic arrived yesterday. Unfortunately it's only graduated in 0.001 so trying to set it to 0.2409 was a bit of a guesstimate. I measured all the bores and they were all fine. The outer limit on the spec is 0.0039 and the most I saw on the borehole mike was 0.0025. One strange thing though....after zeroing the borehole gauge and during measuring the bores, all of the deflections were negative on the dial gauge.
The barrels were also within tolerance on round.

Sounds like your good to go
A good set of cylinders
The dial will turn counter clockwise
As the bore gets bigger ,the negative and positive on the dial face is just there for
