Kz750e OHMS sparkplug wire
17 Sep 2024 09:59
Hello, can someone gives me what OHM sprkplug wires numbers are good for these bikes? I see 0 ohms through 5000 ohms on TON’S website.. less resistance , is a better engine spark but does it damages something to play with it?!
thank youuu guys

0 ohms. The stock wire is 7mm copper core. If you are careful, the outer jacket can be removed and installed on your new inner wires.

I have NGK wire on my bikee and I don’t know if they are a 1980 wires!! Does NGK have a good resistance?! Or 0ohms Ton’s wire should be better?

Post photos of your coils, plug caps, and wires. And don't forget to click "insert all" before posting, or the photos will not show up, other than tiny annoying thumbnails.
And I have no idea what "TON's" is...

I don’t have the bike with me. This is the best picture I can find!! It is freshly Dyno tuned, but Im wondering if I should get new wires..

If the dyno showed no misfire, and good power, new plug wires are not a critical need at this time. Personally, I'd change them, though. I'm repeating myself, but 7mm wire with a copper core is what Kawasaki used, and it's hard to argue against them in favor of any other wires. Check your plug caps using an ohm meter; they should show 5k ohms. If more, I'd replace them also.

Multi core copper HT leads have zero ohm resistance.
Black ngk plug caps could be either zero or 5ohm resistance.
Spark plugs with an "R " in the grade code have 5ohm resistance.
eg, BR8ES opposed to B8ES which have zero resistance.
Any more than 5ohms per cylinder ignition circuit will result in a VERY weak spark when under compression which will cause misfires randomly.
For best spark have zero ohms per ignition circuit.

17 Sep 2024 19:17Actually, the plug caps, whether NGK or OEM have 5000 ohms resistance. Many R plugs are same.Multi core copper HT leads have zero ohm resistance.

In later years of the KZ series, some bikes were speced with R spark plugs from the factory, despite no other changes from Kawasaki. While I'm not a fan of adding resistance into the circuit, it seems that for most KZ's, it won't hurt anything, nor lead to an abnormally weak spark.

Black ngk caps are available in both zero and five ohm variants. I only use zero ohm caps and zero ohm plugs on all my Z bikes.
The ONLY reason to include any resistance into the ignition circuit on these bikes is to suppress interference to analogue tv/radio signals which are no longer used since going to digital signals.
The reason more modern systems use resistance is to eliminate interference to things like ecu's. The reason behind the current trend to only manufacture resistance spark plugs is because of modern electrical circuit heavy vehicles

Ton's is a company selling plug wire, caps, terminals, and other wiring accessories. Good quality parts at reasonable prices, great for making your own plug wires.
