The only thing better than the sound of a carburettor opening is the sound of 4 carburettors opening simultaneously!
Rear suspension "bobbing"? was created by slowman
Just curious if anyone else has experienced a slight jumping or bobbing sensation from the rear suspension under harder cornering?
I'll be leaning over quite a ways and the rear suspension will seem to be bobbing up and down ever so slightly. I don't feel like I'm going to lowside or anything, but it is a slightly unnerving sensation.
It seems to happen independent of what road I'm on, so it leads me to believe that it is the bike.
Thanks!

Just go out to your bike sit on it and bob up and down on it and see what the shocks do. It could possibly just be the shocks that are gone and they are not holding the springs or the whole suspension in one steady position.

Well, the thing is... the PO replaced the springs and shocks with new Progressive Suspension spring and shock combo shortly before I bought the bike. I do know that the springs and shocks are still good.

Do you have spoke wheels?
If you have any loose spokes, the wheel might be out of true, but only shows itself during cornering when the wheel flexes.
I had an old ten speed that did that.

Nope, I've got the mags. Swingarm bearings seem to be without play... I'm at a loss at this point.

swingarm flex would be my guess thestock arms arent that great to begin with .shocks help but you start putting stickier tires on these bikes that can actually hold up in a corner and it will start showing the weak links in the system

It is true that your setup is only as good as your weakest component.
I'll probably tear into it this weekend and see what I can find. Thanks for all the insight everyone!

did you make sure and release the chain tension and unbolt and remove the shocks from the brackets before checking for pivot bearing movement?

I am sure that you have checked already, but is the tire seated correctly on the aluminum wheel? I had a junk yard rookie "forget" to lube the rims when I switched tires last time. It hung up in some places causing a bounce.
Have you center standed and spun the wheel to check to see if the rubber is bulging on the side at all?

Do tighter rear shock spring pre-load settings make any difference (be sure both pre-loads are set the same)?
The cushy lowest pre-load settings may not perform as well in the twisties.
Am presuming the shocks have spring pre-load adjustments, but no separate damping adjustments for either compression or rebound.
Good Luck!
