Fender Eliminator Question was created by Kawickrice
I have been kicking around with the fender eliminator thing for awhile now. I saw a post awhile back that used diamond plate but can't locate any pics. I have found the template in the file section but can not remember if this is the one that I saw. I guess my question is can anybody post some pics. I stumbled across some diamond plate that I should be able to use but can't find the pics. I see that alot of members have done the mod one way or another, and I could use some ideas. My swingarm is stock length. I just want to clean up the rear a little with out hacking my frame or anything. Any pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Z1 My fender got painted and is not chrome so I was thinking about removing it and possibly the inner fender. I would like to keep the original light and plate bracket if it doesnt look butched up. If so I would replace the light with led or something.

i had to loose the plate holder and just use my plate cuase the wheight was too much for my eliminator method ,but, you can keep the tail lense(in fact my way works better with the z-1 lense than my kz)and the whole thing only takes a half hour..
you need an extension for your ratchet to reach the bottom back of your tool tray in the tailpieace(remove the tray)
take off the mounting bolts to the chrome fender and remove the lense cover and tail light....
in the small cavity under your tail youll see a flat spot that is the back of your tool tray(outer- underback)
hold up the tail light housing without the light and you will see where you could drill two holes through the inner tail light back and plastic tool tray..
i use two 10 mm bolts about 1 1/2 inches with two small washers so they don't pull through the back of the tool tray and then when i know my lense housing will mount ..a third small hole to snake my brake/tailight wires under the tool tray and slide the tray back in it works great..
for the license plate i juct hang two three inch strips of aluminum stock between my tailight and fender holes before mounting the whole lense,,acouple nuts and lock washers inside the tail light and back on with the lense...least that's the way i've allways done em...p.s should be checking this weekend shop is not where i live ...peace ,,,craig

I made a fender eliminator that served three purposes all in one unit. It eliminated my rear fender (obviously). It allowed me to mount a ZX12 taillight. And lastly, I was able to angle the rear of the tailsection up. Here's some pics.

Use whatever materials you have access to, and choose a light.

I kept the plastic inner fender, and used a second one cut short and turned around behind it.

Then got a ZX6E tail light, mounted upside down using small flat brackets bent to line up with the Duck Tail mounts.

Then a flat piece of aluminum cut and shaped to fit a License Plate, mounted off the rearmost frame mount.

Yeah I'd say do what the guys have done, flat plate. Theres a template in the filebase you can use as a starting point.

Well you asked for feedback right? I don't understand the angling the tail skyward. I know most new rockets have this and I guess you can better mount a back light but to me it looks ugly and uncomfortable. Looks like it will slide me into the tank. Might also be cause I'm older and swing my leg over the back to mount. 2 cents.........

Putting the tail skyward on my 650 probably would'nt be that bad. But I agree on the age thing, I probably would'nt be able to swing my leg on the Z1 due to a blown knee from a learning experience in my youth on a two stroke.
