73 kz900 88 katana swingarm swap?

I'm new to the forum. I was just given a 73 kz900 that is all original but hasn't run since 85. I want to do the swingarm and front fork conversion and there is a local guy that has a donor bike, 88 suzuki katana 600 real cheap. Does anyone know if this would be a good donor? I've read alot about the gsxr's but was curious about this katana as it is very inexpensive. Thanks for the input.

What ever route you decide to take with your bike, do not permanently alter the triple tree or the swingarm brackets...and don't throw away any original equipment. If you have an original 1973 Z1, it is worth a bundle as it sits...less so the more you alter it.

I would definantly verify if your bike is a 1973 Z1 before any modifications are considered. If is original and complete a Z1 is worth some serious money. Got any pictures? BTW welcome to the forum.

Just kidding...but you should be able to swap Katana stuff with no cutting of factory parts.

You could probably sell that Z1 for enough to buy a KZ1000/900 and put some decent parts on it, if you can't leave things stock (Like me!).

Not sure what I would do, but to answer your question, Katana stuff is a pretty easy swap.

Doing it myself. I'm even running 34mm Katana 600 carbs.

is their a writeup on the katana swap? I have a 76 A4. Are there years that need to be considered for this. Is that swingarm from the katana also. Any other special tricks to make this swap happen? Point me to all the answers.
