I will prob do a rear swap also. I will only use it for street riding and I mainly want to do it for looks and to have more moddern brakes ect. I can cut and weld all day and fabricate I just don't have access to machine shop tools. Lathe ect.

which model KZ1000 do you have?, if it is a CSR or an LTD than a GPZ1100 front end would be an upgrade. There is a huge difference between a leading axle front end and a standard. I just used Progressive springs in my GPZ forks and a Daytona fork brace, works great. If you have to have inverted forks, then check out the english "street fighter" scene, they love KZs and mod them beyond belief!.

When in doubt, GAS IT!!

I found my 1995 GSXR 750 forks to be a fairly easy swap. They are among the longer USD forks available. I believe that ZX-9 forks are the longest.

Here's the link to my build thread if it helps: kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...w&catid=11&id=340793

For simplest bolt on, modern USD forks, and you don't mind spending the money, then custom triples clamps are the easiest, fastest way to do it. I have a set of custom clamps that I just got from another member here and they are nicely made and mount K5 GSXR1000 forks (05-07 or so)

they bolt up to the Kz frame using Kz bearings with the stock fork offset. The gullwing drop gives you back some of your lost ride hight with the shorter modern forks.

you can get a cop bike front end cheap...the whole thing triples and all is what you want to bid on..e-bay.... and search KZ 1000P complete front end...81 -98 and you may even end up with a better front rim and brakes too.....

now if you want a hybrid /modern/upside down fork and complete front end ...then a zx-9 or zx-7 complete front end....

Unless of course you want to spend a few thousand then the sky is the limit

Complete front end estimates

cop bike 81-98 complete front end 200+ 50-75 shipping aprox

ZX7-ZX9..300-600....50-75 shipping

pair of gpz froks and fender that will slide onto your triple tree and mount your wheel brakes ect..

forks 100-150 + 30 shipping
fender 35-70 + 20 shipping

all of these items can probably be found any day on e-bay....

good luck

p.s update your " avatar or sig " with yr and model so folks can follow your builds better, and oh yeah...pics are a must.......

FWIW I paid $200 shipped for a mint set of 1995 GSXR 750 forks from ebay. Included clamps, clip-ons and the complete axle with speedo drive. All they needed was a set of new fork seals. I feel like I got a little lucky here.

I've been thinking of using 95-97 ZX6R forks with Zephyr 750 triple clamps. They are a more modern cartridge damper fork and the length should be adequate since the clipons on the 6R mount above the triples. They are also fairly inexpensive and plentiful on Ebay.
