My spokes on my 76 kz900 are pretty worn/rusty and I'm wanting to replace them. Is there anything special or difficult about doing this? I think I'm going the stainless route. Thanks

I'm considering going stainless also,and was thinking that it would be easiest to do them one at a time.
I plan on doing a lot of research on it first, starting here ;)

Are The Rims and Hubs nice enough to leave alone?
Stainless are the way to go. They are over a $100 a set! Buchanon's
I guess you could save money by not having them trued afterward. If you replace 1 at a time
you better have some valium with your patience. I have this old project wasting away, at least the spokes will look good forever :woohoo:

Yeah. I thought doing them one at a time would be the best way to go if I did them myself. Is that not a good idea?

I don't think you can do them one at a time because they are too long to take out and get back in. Take some pics and you should be fine. Remember you might have to replace the nipples also, but it's a good time to clean up the hub!

I used a greeny/some WD40 and some elbow grease to clean mine up. After that you can polish them with a metal polish like mother's or mequiars if you are into that. Probably be less work than replacing them with stainless unless you've laced a wheel before (coming from a guy who has never laced a wheel before).

Not that hard to do lacing a wheel.
I put a ziptie were the spoke's cross then
pull the nipple's.
replace two at a time and set the hub/spoke
combo in the rim and the spoke's line up.
Just did this one that way.

Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

Great idea Dave! I've been planning to do a spoke change (for the first time) and this will help to keep things simple.
