i had sold my Koni dial a rides, when i sold the MKII...i am running S&W heavy duty street shocks now but really miss my Koni's...the S&W are for sale if anyone wants some good shocks p.m me
After doing a lot of research and not wanting too fancy looking or colored shocks.. .i found
"Ikon shocks" # 7610-1343 www.ikonsuspensionusa.com/servlet/StoreFront
(play on letters but they make the old school Koni dial a rides now to spec)
i had been watching a few sets of used ebay konis go north of 230.00 and before i bought 30 year old shocks for big coin...i did some checking on new ones and decided wtf...i want this build to be tits...here we go :woohoo:
i got them to make them with springs to suit my weight, passenger weight, riding style and the 4 way adjustable damping and 3 step ride pre load allow me to use them for two up,or soft or hard setting for solo freeway or canyon rides.....I am excited to try them and from built to order in Australia, shipped to San Fran and then to my door ,420.00 not bad for the best shocks and they look like the builds other stuff as far as black and aluminum and chrome, but not too blingy
these are top of the line......... Dave the owner of the san fran beemer bike shop "Recommended Service"
has been outfitting bikes with suspension and trick stuff for decades and swears by these ...he does mostly bmw bikes but is the importer for Ikon in the u.s and has put these on a few Z1 and KZ also
the dial a ride has been the hot ticket for Z bikes since back in the day and looks great
more when i get em on
new tires too...MT/90/V/16 and 100/90/V/19 new manufacture dates 221.00 to my door from JP Cycles.com...I called Avon North America and asked for the dealer that does not sell older shelf tires...i explained this was my third set and i am a die hard Avon fan now,but want new tires, not shelved discount ones...the rep said JP moves them and wont order in bulk or close outs....also the price was great imo....3-5 day ship no charge
oh and new mirrors too.....and brakes and battery ...and fuel lines..and seat pins....
paint is next..frame body ...ceramic coat the headers....and full re-do like the MKII got....
hope the shocks get here by GP weekend...he said three day air from Oz and three more to me stateside

They had adjustable damping, is that dial a ride? Price was something like $300, I don't remember the exact amount. They ran out of the KZ1000 shocks pretty fast too, I got one of the last sets.trianglelaguna wrote: were they dail a rides 7610's

i cant find a picture
they are cool cause as well as the staged spanner wrench settings on the bottom of almost all shocks
dials have one touch valving dials at the top by the frame mount nut and can be dialed at a stop and go
thanks for the review
what shocks did you have before and did you notice any big or better ride diff
how long have you had them and do they seem to be good finish over time...chrome/paint
they claim to be the new maker of koni's old design and mine (ebay used set i sold )were like new after 20-30 years...i hope the ikons are that good materials wise...they look the exact same from the sales pics....i wonder if z1 ent has the ones i bought from Dave in S.F
i always want to support Z1ent when possible

Kapahulu wrote: Here's a pic, I think they are the same as the set you are buying. I'm not much of a pavement scratcher but the shocks work fine and they look good too.
