Rear wheel alignment on a 77 kz1000

Anybody got any thoughts? Are there other adjusters out there I can use that will keep the axle aligned forward and back?

I agree, the Clymer manual leaves some room for improvement on the rear hub reassembly notes.
You got to have the coupling sleeve(#13 in your illustration) in between the hub bearing and the sprocket drive hub bearing or it will lock up. Make certain the beveled edge is in the correct direction.
It's been a long time since I've installed rear hub bearings on a KZ, but on all the ones I've done, that spacer(# 19) is what loads the inner races of the bearings when the axle nut is tightened. Why would it be different on a KZ?
Make sure you have all your spacers and all the bearings are the correct width. The new bearings should be sealed.

I'm not familiar with the term brag in this context. What part of the spacer is the brag?
