Wire wheel bikes bring more money.
It takes a bit of work to convert the A4 to rear disk with stock parts. I have done this before. I plan on going back to the drum brake as soon as my body shifts gears.
I believe in 1978 the front calipers were moved to the rear of the fork tubes.
Any front end up to 1980 should work. And some 650 parts. Some 650 front ends will have a smaller wheel(narrower)and a smaller axle.
Here is the thread.

mick z1a wrote: i do believe the 650 uses thinner discs. as said, you will be able to put an extra disc straight onto your existing wheel. i personally wouldnt opt for disc break rear, these old disc breaks can be poor in the wet and thats when the rear drum comes in mighty handy
I've never had a problem with my KZ650-C1 rear disk (or dual front disks) in the wet, and in 54,000 miles I've ridden it in plenty of rain. Ed

Rear disc brakes are heavier than the drum rear and could be another source of problems. I have no problems locking up my rear tire with the stock drum. I'd recommend keeping with the stock drum, unless you're doing a modern brake conversion.
