Its hard to tell in your photo but it looks like you have an extra spacer on the disk side

Rex, can you get me a photo of the rear of the caliper? Where it bolts to the fork? I just don't see how this could work unless some meat was taken off of the mounts on the fork. With the caliper mounted on my forks the wheel would have to be almost a half inch out to have room. causing the wheel to not be centered in the forks

Yes I do. Been a while since the swap.
Bike was on the lift behind a couple of other bike and a little
difficult to get to. Moving bike around today and I have a better view now.
Did your forks draw in when the axle nut was tightened?

My axle doesnt fit in the 440 forks all the way, so I cant tell if they draw in. I measured the bottoms of the 400 forks and one side is 30mm wide and the other is 26mm, while both of the 440 forks are 28mm at the bottom. did you shave 2 mm off the speedo and add it to the disk side with that spacer? That would center the wheel, but I still don't think that would give you enough room for the caliper without shaving some off the fork leg.

Did some measuring, bottom of right side fork has almost no shoulder.
The bosses for the caliper are .200 narrower that the other fork.

Thanks for info. Just a little clarification, when you say the right shoulder do you mean the raised area on the inside of the fork tube? I bought a 440 axle on ebay, once it gets here Im gonna get this to my machinist. should be real easy for him.
