custom front sprocket offset

Trying to measure offset for custom front sprocket for 2003 zx6r swingarm/wheel on a kz900. My kz 900 actual sprocket has a washer(2mm) sitting between it and the shaft collar. I checked the shop manual and the washer doesn't show up on the diagram, sprocket sits directly on shaft collar. There is only a retaining washer between sprocket and holding nut. Can somebody please confirm If there is an actual washer between sprocket and shaft collar ?? as it is messing my measures. I am getting an approx. 13mm offset without sprocket inside washer.
Thanks.

I know this sounds nonsense, but you can actually offset the rear wheel bit..the zrx are offset as standard with no apparent handling difficulties. But get it wrong as an amateur and the chain line is all wrong.
This sounds like bad engineering to me, but on this I defer kawi engineers who clearly got this right. he zrx are an awesome bike - if you like it modern watercooled style.

while that may be the correct sprocket for an original kz.
that would not be the correct sprocket for this bike after the suspension conversion that has been done to it.

p.s.
i use a string and six inch ruler to figure offset.
with the string hooked around a tooth on the rear of the rear sprocket(just above the carrier) and pulled around the inside of the rear sprocket(towards the wheel) and pulled forward to the countershaft sprocket.
then you can move it in and out while watching the string contact the front and rear of the rear sprocket when you are sure the string is flat alongside the rear sprocket take a measurement between the back of the counter sprocket and the string..
the term straight as a string applies to chain lines too!

Is it common to add a 2mm washer/spacer for an aftermarket sprocket to get the same offset as the original sprocket ?. I think mine it is not the original as it is a 16tooth sprocket .

otherwise you have to add into your measurements whatever the spacer is and there is no sense in complicating matters at this point.

someone had to add it at some point.
there should only be the stock spacer that the seal rides on.

You're right. Stock was 15 tooth. I'm running a 16 tooth so my RPM's are 3500 at 55 MPH. All I was replying to was the measurements he was asking about. Whether there's a spacer or not does not apply or recommended.
I understand what he is trying to do.
