Throttle real stiff

The throttle on my '81 kz750e is super stiff and I was wondering if there is a way to fix that? Friend of mine said maybe just a squirt of wd40 might fix it or to just get a new twist.
Being my first bike I don't wanna screw anything up so any advice is welcomed

If the the carbs slides are stiff, carb cleaner sprayed in there can usually loosen them if it is gas varnish deposits.
If all fails, you might have dry throttle cable and it can be soaked in thin oil to lube it, $15-$20 usually buys you a new one.

I would clean & lubricate the throttle & cable, especially the cable ends. This is normal maintenance & should not be neglected. To lube the cable ends I use permatex brake caliper grease in the little packets. If it's still stiff, I guess the next thing would be to check the carburetors. The 750E has butterfly valves that open & close. Also, try turning the handlebars side to side while twisting the throttle to see if that makes any difference, in case the throttle cable is binding.

This will tell you if the problem is throttle cable/throttle tube related. If so, clean and lube the throttle tube / handlebar area and lube the throttle cables. Also, ensure the throttle cables are routed correctly. If they are not they can bind. Ed

Its all stock as far as I know except a fat bob tank, Springer seat and screaming eagle exhaust tips. All of that was done by a previous owner.

Enables quickly blasting lube throughout the entire length of the cable without having to rely on gravity flow from a pooled source as described in many service manuals.

fit one section of tubing over the outer sheathing & another section or two over that, then attach the funnel & spray.
you may have to slit the first section of tubing down its length. I hang mine from the eaves w a couple of coat hangers
& use masking tape to hold it together. kinda red-necky but it works.
ps: I asked about the bike being stock, because sometimes the throttle cables are wrong when the bars are changed out.
