Dr. Gamma wrote: I bought this fancy little tool back in the early 70's to lube cables. Its so old it even has stamped in it "MADE IN USA" I use PJ1 black chain lube for clutch cables, and WD40 for throttle cables. Anything heavier when it gets cold the throttle does not snap back quickly. Less than 5 minutes and you are done!!!
I have one of those too, but it's early 1990s vintage. Not sure where it was made.
I recall reading that one should not use chain lube for cables as it becomes tacky after application (as a result of the anti-fling properties) but it seems to work for you. I've always used cable-specific lube - right now it's this:

The little extra drag from using chain lube in my clutch cables does not really matter because I use clutch springs with considerable amounts of extra spring pressure!!!
Denco made some killer H/D clutch springs back in the day!!!!
