Drum brakes for drum heads was created by Trackerkz650sr

Question

I degraded from disc to drum on my 78 sr
Basically im wondering if someone with a drum brake foot pedal could show me how theyre linkage sets up?

Im going to modify my "disc" pedal to actuate the drum

Now i do have it mocked up and working
However my main question is
Can the arm on the drum be pushed and or pulled to achieve proper braking?

How i have it set up now is what i beleive backwords from most drum set ups ive seen
My rod pushes towards the rear of the bike to acctuate the brake

It does stop like this. Just want to make sure im not asking for a mechanical failure

Which way does your stock kz drum operate
Rod pushing forward or rod pushing towards the rear?

The drum brake leveler has to be pulled.

The normal way is to pull. Pushing with a skinny rod is going to fail miserably. It will just bend.

I do the drum to disk way on my Project bike.
Have to cut, adjust and weld the drum pull rod levler angle of the foot brake levler for the rear disk MC.

Appriciate the pics no doubt but i am going from disc to drum

Im interested in seeing stock drum set up linkage pictures

Also the rod i chose was much thicker than stock and i made barrels

It hasnt bent or flexed but i mainly dont want to go against the grain from a engineering stand point and end up locking my wheel up

As always Appriciate the responses none the less

Basically if i flip my pedal "barrel rod holder shaft" to the up position
Which allows the pedal to operate the brake rod in the natural "pull" position
It hits the swingarm

So im guessing the drum brake pedal and shaft has a different set up? Shorter in height maybe

Hope im making sense

Any pics of your rear brake Setup would be helpfull.
Here is my rear drum brake leveler Setup before i converted into disk brake.
It´s the same stock brake leveler before i have to modify the angle.

The brake pedal is attached to a brake pedal shaft. I would install the brake pedal shaft, spring & other stuff from a 650B. As previously noted in your other drum brake topic, the 650B & SR have the same brake pedal, and from comparing their frames on EB, it looks like the pedal is attached in the same location, so it seems like a stock type conversion would be possible. for safety.

Scriocco, why did you swap to disc? It's been my experience a drum rear brake actually is a more effective brake than a disc.

I choose the drum for the proper look and feel for my build

If anyone has pics of theyre drum set up
Im interested in seeing where the rod attatches to the pedal shaft

Thats where im having confusion
To actuate the brake in a pull motion
The barrel that the rod goes into (pedal side)would need to be in the up position

When in the up position it hits the swingarm

Here is a picture of my current set up.
Hope the pics are clear enough

U can see my brake shaft "circle barrel holder" is in the down position

It order for it to pull on the rod proper it would need to move upward
But when it moves upword to achieve the proper motion . the brake shaft (which the brake rod slides through the end of)
Hits the swingarm

Here is the stock drum pedal. Looks like the brake pedal shaft (9) can be rotated.
