Lowering bike....questions.

How much can you safely lower the front of the bike by pushing the fork up through the triple? Im looking for about 1.5" of drop with minimal negative handling effects.

Whats the best way to go about lowering the rear? I haven't seen any lowering springs for these bikes anywhere, and theres really no room to re-drill holes for the shock mounts.

the front will lower till you hit the handlebars and on the rear you can use sportster shocks theyre about 2.5 inches shorter than stock

I use 11" shocks on one of my bikes. I weigh 165 and if i hit a pot hole it will unplug the tail light. I like it low handles nice. Roy

For the front I used lowering tubes from schnitzracing.com. On the back I have a set of the lowering thinggys that move the bottom of the shocks back a couple of inches.

they are talking about lowering weights that compresses the springs down further inside the forks thus lowing the front end. schnitz sells them. i would give ya the 2 inch lowering block i had on my stock swingarm i dont use anymore but i welded them solid:P. they are pretty cheap. they just push the bottom shock mount further back wich lowers the back.

Only thing i worry about is how close to the ground my 4 into 1 is. It goes under the bottom of the bike, curves to the left side and then comes back out of the right. At stock height with my body weight on the bike, i have about 5" of ground clearance. If i lean to the left, it goes down even further.

5 inches:laugh: your still in the clear. with my bike standing straing up i only have 1 3/4" with vance hines 4-1 upswept pipe. but i have bottomed out two or three times:whistle:

yeah with 10 1/4" rear shocks and tubes raised in trees had about 2" under vance and hines with my 200lbs:ohmy: my z1 will sit even lower frame wise but its a turbo so there is nothing below the frame to worry about.

Nope I was talking about the little tubes you put inside the forks. I had to rebuild anyway and got a set. Pretty cheap but you can make your own if you feel the need.

Im only worried about bottoming out in corners and unloading the rear tire. I can deal with banging in a straight line....wrecking i'd rather not deal with :lol:

I;ve got to looking at a set of clubman bars instead of clip-ons. I wonder if i could still lower the front forks 1.5-2" with the bars still on the front.
