Should I have an engine sprocket guard?

On the 750 twins, the chain guard is removable, it's number 13 in this pic. I think the number is 13 anyway, it's kind of hard to read.

I just saw this on eBay...maybe it's what you are talking about?? This is the cover I mentioned in the earlier post, item 15 in the diagram.

Yeah, thats the type of thing I was talking about. I guess that my 1978 doesn't have one of them. The picture in the Clymer was a sketch and not a photograph so its difficult to tell exactly whats going on.

I don't have one on my bike and not sure if they came with one. It's just a thin piece of sheet metal so it won't help anything if your chain breaks.

The 78 came with the sprocket cover (like #15) as did most all the 903/1015cc models. This thing is a safety bit and unless you have had a sprocket nut come off or a chain break while riding, you really won't appreciate the thing. I would find one and install it if I didn't have one and use Loctite red on the countershaft sprocket nut and use a staked washer.
