Black plastic color restoration?

Try a heat gun...get the part hot, and keep the gun moving...you can see the shiny Black
following the heat.

1000 grit seemed rather fine to me, but it came out looking so good,
I wasn't about to contradict the way he did it. hee.

Yes. But I'm not that familiar w the adhesion characteristics of plastic,
so I didn't add my 2 pennies. :laugh:

I would paint it using Krylon Fusion for a more permanent solution.

The Krylon Fusion works great as long as nothing is rubbing against it like your leg. I used it on some MX parts (front numberplate and fork guards) lasted a long time.

Mop-N-Glo floor wax, damp rag, wipe it on, your good for a year

That's actually a really good idea!
Mop n flo and/or future floor polish will both form an acrylic layer and prevent essential oils from seeping as well as bring back the color.

The only drawback I see is the need to re-apply wich could result in cracking and flaking further down the road.
I'd try it though.
