Wonder how all that POR paint will hold up once engine heat bakes it

Manuf spec states that it is tested to over 250 decC so it should be ok.

I used POR-15 Engine Enamel on a Suzuki GS engine and the silver color turned brown right away after heating. I like POR-15 products for the most part, but don't believe everything they say.

It is best to strip all the paint off and completely disassemble everything.....but if the original factory paint is not peeling and has not been painted over, it is ok to clean and sand the original paint and spray it with an engine paint. I have even had good results spraying the PPG Silver cloud Honda color in regular old acrylic enamel on cases.

Finally had a chance to do a re repaint of my Z1-R engine over the weekend.
Previous attempt was a pretty inconsistent and crappy mess so had to rub/scrub the affected parts back (again!)

Anyway got a chain block and some threaded rod and made up a lifting and supporting rig for the job.
Hoisted up the engine, washed it and blew off any dust/moisture.
Masked off the parts not to be painted and checked temp - about 20degC and not too humid.
Applied the VHT engine enamel (satin black) per the instructions and was very excited to watch the paint dry -
came out pretty good, a huge improvement on the previous fuckup!

Final pic - from rear -

The photo flash has made the finish look worse than it appears in the flesh in places -
especially the shot from the front.
The sides and back of the motor were the worst areas before but have come up pretty good
this time. Just have to wait for the paint to cure and then will muscle that big fella into the frame,
which I'll cover in bubble wrap to protect against slips and fumbles.
