Hi Howard,

Are you sure about that ? One of the ebay pictures shows the fairing installed on a Gpz750.
What make you think it's not proper ? Are the headlight dimensions different on the 550 and 750/1100?

Cheers,

The 550 fairing is shorter (front to back) i.e. the headlight on the 550 is closer to the triple clamp / shocks, and narrower. Also, the lower mounting holes are closer together on the fairing, so my brackets will not work.

 550

1100

And, the position of the indicators is totally different.

I looked at that Ebay fairing again... it may or may not be a 550 fairing, however, it is certainly not the same as what I designed my brackets to suit...

Hi there ,
Not sure if I'm too late into the topic.
Ebay US has a KZ750 R1 , seems OEM, in decent shape .
             Not cheap , u$s240 + shipping .
Mine is an aftermarket one and it does fit fine , Quality is acceptable I only had to make the holes on the bottom .
Brand is Dennis KIrk but again U$s 260
             Both have mounting brackets

Hi,
Never too late to join the party !
Thank you for the info, do you have the link ? I can't find it on ebay...
Otherwise, the UK seller in the link I posted replied and told me that he could modify the fairing to look like the original one (the side follows the curve of the screen, cf the picture below)
I think I will try it and report.

Well that went fast... I went to see it 2 seconds ago and while I was typing a message to the seller, the fairing went... too bad, it even had the brackets.

If anybody out there has an original fairing in good condition with brackets, give me a shout :D

You mentioned that the fairing with he brackets was gone...it is still listed on eBay, if you are interested.  What makes that fairing attractive is that it has some of the rare brackets and apparently, the even rarer windscreen gasket.

Yeah that's weird it disappeared from my searches for a moment. I sent a message to the seller but still waiting for a reply. A bit expensive though, if you factor in the shipping and import taxes... I'll see what he says as he might not accept to ship outside of the US.

Yes, it is expensive.
Also right about shipping.
It has original brackets but you need the bracket that attaches to front forks . I may still have those , not positive .(I had to make different once for my inverted forks)
It has ,as well , original screws and knots for windscreen , 4 metal 3 plastic.
In my experience, new parts will show up on ebay , BUT it takes a long time.

Yep, rare parts do show up on eBay and you have to develop patience...checking daily or several times daily for months or more.
