Your bike looks just great!
I'm real curious about rattle can paint jobs right now, because I've got a touring bike that I'm going to paint this winter. Never painted before, so I'm reading and looking at everything I can to get tips.
Q's:
1. Did you wetsand your primer coat? What grit?
2. Did you wetsand the color coat before you cleared?
3. Did you sand/buff out the clear coat?
4. Did you paint outside, or do you have a paint booth?

Thanks for the compliment.
1. Did not wetsand primer. Used Duplicolor Filler/Primer and it came out pretty smooth.
2. Wetsanded the color coat with 3M 1000 wet/dry. Did this after each color.
3. I had every intention of wetsanding the clear and polishing, however, the clearcoat came out smoother than I thought it would, so I left it alone (for now) and saved some $.
4. Believe it or not, everything was painted in a dusty/dirty one car garage/shop and a dusty dirty basement. I was suprised that it turned out like it did. The wetsanding makes a huge difference. I also let the parts "cure" for a week before wetsanding and adding the next color.
Prep is key also, use prep wipes and a tack cloth right before you start to lay anything down.
I think the key is to use all the same brand of products from start to finish. Primer, colors, clear.
Hope this helped you.
Like I said, this is my first attempt at painting anything other than model cars, walls, or canvas.
Good luck with your paint job, I'd like to see pics when you are done!

As you can see, I've got lots to paint. Going to a pro would cost more than I could ever afford. So, I'm looking at a DIY job. God help me.
