30 years to get back home... was created by WT100
So 30 years ago i bought my first ride a Kawasaki 350.
Rode the wheels off it on the I 30 between Dallas and Arlington one summer. 80 mph drafting semi trucks.
Nest year upgraded to this Yamaha 650.
Sold it for $150 (idiot) and was off bikes for almost 30 years. Last year i got a scooter and fell back in love with riding.
Upgraded to this Kymco 150.
I've ridden 7,000 miles on scoots since getting back into riding last year so it's time again for an upgrade and a coming home of sorts.
The deal is struck and tomorrow morning i will be picking up this beauty.
1980 KZ650
29,000 miles, top end rebuilt, upgraded to dynatec coils and dynatec electronic ignition, new tires front and back, fresh paint job within the year. 4 into 1 exhaust. upgrade from stock airbox to 4 K&N air filter pods.
Runs and sounds like a rocker.
There will be pics and videos to follow. Probably more than you want.

So you went from rocker to mod and now back to rocker. Welcome to KZR. That 650 looks pretty clean. You can't post too many photos, I can attest to that.

Welcome and bring on the pictures. :woohoo:
i wish i had my old pictures of my bikes, but after the years that stuff gets lost.
i ride a Harley and a Kawasaki 2002 P21 police bike had less than 242 miles when i picked it up and i will tell you it is a BLAST to ride.
it is bringing the young kid out of me?

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Just to clarify, i'm still a mod too. Probably hang on to the "Little Guy" (retro) and the "Green Dragon" (Kymco 150) for now.
I am going to have to change the scooter club i started to a "Mods & Rockers" club.

man this is great folks joining up and throwing down pics right off the bat...normally we have to beg for pics...love the scooter shots....
I always tell folks that have never rode before to NOT get the scooter when they ask my opinion...
do you feel safe in traffic???...crazy,but i always wonder if you can get outta the way of fast idiots in cars...?????
then you go and make it look fun...it has got to be cool to commute for a dollar a day...
nice 650 it will be faster than the scooter i'm guessing...
welcome

Yes I felt save in trafic. But then my scoot was a two stroke with a 70cc BBK an a tuned pipe and tranny. Could do a (GPS verified) 50 mph all day. Then the Kymco 150 with the 2 Brothers Racing pipe is nice and comfy at 60+ mph.
Lot's of video on my YouTube page but this will give you a taste of the "Green Dragon" at play. And what to expect from future KZ videos.

Ok now the moment we've been waiting for.
Completed the deal this morning and took the bike in light rain to my mechanic. He is giving it a hard once or twice over. He's a friend who owns a bike shop. He will do an extensive PDI on it and establish a base line for "long ride" dependability and for future modding fun.
Now the pics!
More to come!
