A brief note to introduce myself: after a long break I’ve returned to the Z900 - Z1000 fold, having recently purchased an ’80 Mk II that needs a complete rebuild. I had another of these back in the early '90s, and my first large streetbike was a ’77 Z1000A1 bought when I was an impressionable youth back in ’81.
I’ve been a rider since 1980 (does anyone else remember that far back ? …) with a wide range of bikes across the years, with most of them being Brand K. I also currently have an ’89 GPz900R in parts (destined to become a Japanese-style custom when time and money permit) along with an ’07 ZX10R; the latter is a trackbike that I’ve spent far too much money on, removing 37.3 kg (82.2 pounds) along the way.
My long-term plan is to rebuild the Mk II into an AMA-replica style streetbike, as trick as I can reasonably afford without going stupid on trying to make it fast; with a ZX10R in the garage, there’s n way anything I do to it could make it feel fast ! The only complication is that I’m currently in a low-paying job, having been retrenched from my banking career; hence, it’ll likely be a while before Project Mk II commences
I look forward to learning a lot from this forum, and hopefully contributing what I have managed to glean over the years.
All the best from Oz,
Brian

Have been down the rebuild path with mine and happy to help if required.
Have got a feeling I've spoken to you somewhere along the line?
Cheers...Dave

Gidday Dave,
Thanks for the note and the kind offer of help, your bike looks great. I'm a KSRC regular, so entirely possible we've crossed paths on there at some point.
Pics to follow, but I don't pick up the old bus until Saturday
Cheers,
Brian
