Anyways my question is, would it be cheaper to insure the 84' KZ750 or say a 06' R6? As if I dont go with the old KZ Ill be going for the other or similar 600 sports bike.
PS. I'm not by any means new to bikes or mechanics, Ive been riding since I was 3 and can/will work on and/or rebuild anything if so required.
Thanks

The R6 would be $245/mo
The KZ750... $310/mo wtf!
Also that liability only, basic minimum coverage.
Might as well get the R6, stupid insurance

I'd stay away from Allstate and State Farm and their ilk. I'm insured with SafeCo, a Liberty Insurance affiliate. My KZ1100 Spectra costs me $100.00 per year. My Valkyrie costs $131.00 per year which includes collision. Course then, I'm three times your age.

^^^^^^+1 on Safeco!
My 75 Z900 costs $98 a year Liability only, full coverage on my '03 Harley Heritage is more, I dont recall exactly but I think around $600 a year, most Insurance co.'s around here only hear the CC's part of the Bike, since the Harley is about 1500CC.....well, you see. ..........Admittedly, I am a "Dinosaur" comparatively speaking! :woohoo: and Yea, had my Motorcycle endorsement since 1973. ( No accidents or tickets either) Something else I havn't seen anyone mention....I think on bikes more than 25 years old that are considered "Vintage" or Antique" there are carriers out there who offer reduced rates, Now, maybe there are mileage restrictions..( ??)..not sure, but I only ride my Vintage 900 to Special Ride Ins and events anyway. Been thinking about checking on that myself for my Kaw 900. Good Luck!!

Anyways the kz is still for sale but the guy wants more for it then he advertised. He listed it for $800 but said that is buddy screwed up the ad, he has an 83 550 ltd for 800 and wants 1400 for the KZ, which isn't bad but out of my budget, so change of plans. I'm going to look at an 83 GPz550 Saturday (though I think its actually an 84 by looking at the pictures). It needs a bit of work, doesn't run and needs paint but he only wants 500 and I think I could fix it up to be something really nice.

Get the 750L4 , fast as you need for now, nice handling and much cheaper and easier to run and maintain. Look at the GPz750R1, very similar to the l1.
In uk there are 'collectors' policies which makes insurance on classic bikes cheap. Some have a minimum age requirement at older than 23.
Good luck, and follow your heart on this. They don't make them like they used to and the very cool lines of the twin shock z750 is something you can't get on any newer bike.
1980 Gpz550 D1, 1981 GPz550 D1. 1982 GPz750R1. 1983 z1000R R2. all four aces

I wish there was some kind of skill and ability test you could take to prove you really know how to control a bike. (more so than a standard training course and didnt cost $500+)
