29mm Mikuni smoothbore was created by 73z1
There are two sets of 29mm Mikuni smoothbore on ebay.
Please tell me what years Mikuni sold these carbs and the price.
I have owned ten z1's and never had a set, they must be somewhat rare.

I jumped on the band wagon! I had a set sat dry for 20 years. Don't even remember when or where I got them from? Used to trade, buy and sell parts at the drag bike races before the internet all the time. I Used on a 1075 &  Andrews 2X cams. I remember selling the Late Tom Sudman from Ohio, a set Of new Ken Harmon K-1 cams for $50 bucks at an IDBA race at Norwalk in about 1993-4. Wish I had them back now!
I just bought a set of new brass floats, as most used to suck in. And an old school set of stacks I got from Greg Z here. They needed new fuel T O-rings.
Sold on eBay for $1100. I also used FB drag bike type sites to advertise for the eBay ad, and I offer 12% discount if purchased off of eBay. My buy it now items are for sale local, so I can end ad at any time. It does show an increase in views on eBay. But the Japan buyers from Cali. bought them up.
Could I have gotten more? But the cheaper ones sell quicker than the crazy priced ones.
These are them, just sold last week.

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!

I have yet to run the set I have but the crazy cost/value has to be driven more by nostalgia then performance? New technology in a set of RS34’s has to be a better bang for your buck? I’d think even a bored out set of 26’s is a better value?

I think its the period-correctness that really keeps them popular. My understanding is that they had a number of advantages over the Keihin CR29s of that era.

I would argue nowadays you can have your period correct cake and eat it too with a set of new Keihin CRs.  Easily tunable, tons of parts availability, and relatively reasonably priced.

That's what I think when I see a vintage VM29 set sell for more than a new set of CR29.  The CR29 are still in production.  You can get any part you need, but mostly you won't need anything because they are brand new.  And they have basically all of the same circuit and settings.  Seems kind of silly.

Thanks to everyone who posted comments, I have owned ten z1's but never had a set of these carbs and know nothing about them.

New in 1979 I paid about 300 Bucks for my 29s

$300*6 = $1800 (today) so they were expensive back then.
