Yes motorcycles can hurt you. And if you are real stupid they will do some serious damage to your body!!

Chain tension looks good, certainly less than "a fingers width" of freeplay

For one thing, don't run the engine to spin the chain to clean the chain. Some guys on ninja forums* do this. crazy. 
Someone on a Kawasaki forum said his nephew lopped off a finger this way. no thanks and ouch.

Is that a finger or a toe???

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
