The Wife and I bought 33 acres of land with an old farm house and a huge old barn. Most of the land is/was covered with small saplings so dense I couldn't even walk the property to see what we own. We hired a land clearing company to come in and open up the property. The guy owns a large skid steer with a Fecon attachment and this thing is a tree eating monster.

Here's a few more pics, the house was built in 1900 it has good bones but has been empty for maybe six years and needs way more work than I want to put into it so it may get torn down in the future. Mother nature sure has a way of taking over what was once hers.I have cut most of the trees down that were growing right next to the old barn. It's about a mile away from Tony Stewart's 450 acre hunting preserve, plenty of wildlife around.

Congrats, looks like a great property. Maybe you'll find a  trap door in that old barn with a vintage old Kawi hidden in it.  ...

Very cool. My wife and I did something similar on a smaller scale. Only 5.6 acres and small house built in 1978 but the land was neglected. I cleared most of it with a chainsaw and a bushhog. I love old houses but... small rooms, low ceilings, tiny kitchens, small closets are hard to live with. We took ours down to the studs and kept what we liked and added on where we could.

Very nice! Though I'm a little concerned that the empty house has a pet door...

There is one excellent thing to note about the house: it was most likely constructed with 2"x6" and 2"x4" that actually measure 2"x6" and 2"x4". My previous house was built in the 1920s and the lumber in that place was amazing. If you do decide to tear it down, if you're careful you should be able to re-use a lot of it and/or sell it to a local artisan.
