u will be fine with the ground clearance. i have the same forks too. most guys get away with shorter forks. i have a complete zrx12 rear end.
if u want to go 200mm tire later u can get a zx7(?) rim. it is narrower in the hub and a 6" rim. if u what to go that route pm me for details.B)

200mm versus the 180mm tire width equates to 3/4 of an inch. No one will truly see the difference... Besides, what does that extra 20mm do for ya on the road...

Same time, with my 180mm tire on the 5.5" rim, tire to chain ~ 1/2 to 9/16" clearance.

O.k., new stem bearings and seals. Front end is all bolted together and she is on the ground. I have not even shortened the kickstand!:P
I am sure it will drop or raise with the new swing arm and rear wheel. So now for the hard part, the rear. Got a new ebc front left rotor for 85 bucks, not bad. one of mine is way the hell off. So I will get the other one and some new pads.
The 170 or 180 tire will be just fine. I don't care for really wide tires, they look cool but make some bikes hard to turn in my opinion.

One of the rotors is waaay off. Yikes! I would not know where to start from in order to straight it. But I have will feel better with new rotors and pads.

Here is my clearance type picture.

I have no clearance problem with those same forks. Most guys run shorter forks. Very few run the zx9's.
Its the same with the turning radius. its way smaller, but u get used to it and know its limitation. No problem.B)

Came up with headlight mounting and started with the key switch.I plan to put the key switch in where the zx9 switch was.I am using the stock headlight and bracket. It looks like it will come together quickly and easily. I just need a small dish shaped cover for a hold down for the switch.I need to decide where to mount the speedometer, The pick up wire is not very long so the speedo will probably end up just above the rear of the headlight. I will make a small bracket and weld it to the headlight housing. I also plan to fabricate an indicator light panel, you know turn signal-neutral-high beam.I will get some l.e.d. lights in different colors.
I also blasted and painted my switch covers. I used a flat black instead of semi gloss. Cindy, My girl, has started filling in the lettering with yellow and white and red. (There will be rear foot pegs on this bike.;) )
I still need to make a steering stop but have not gotten a bottle of gas for the mig welder.
