Chatterbox headsets? was created by Nevco48
My girlfriend and I took a 350 mile trip up the spine of Vermont yesterday. Excellent trip, beautiful scenery, good weather. We are planning a 2200+ mile trip through West virginia and Kentucky this summer, so this was a good test of riding a decent distance. The only problem was communicating back and forth while on the bikes. Anybody have experience with the various helmet mounted communication systems out there? Chatterbox is the only one I know by name... I don't want to look like an old dork on a Goldwing wired into my bike, but once in a while it would be nice to chat about the scenery or the next gas stop, etc.
(You notice I said my girlfriend, not wife- we still like to talk to each other!:P )

Nevan...the Warden and I use a Chatterbox,GMRS.
We don't use it ALL the time, but on longer rides,it's great to communicate.I don't have to turn My head to hear Her better, and it's voice-activated(VOX)
We've even tied an MP3 player into it,or a radio(I bought a "Chatterbox" radio on a trip,one time).
I works very well..very clear considering the wind noise.
The other thing I like about these units,is that if You're out of cell-phone service, and You had an emergency situation,You could scan through the channels and get in contact with a truck driver if need be.(or Anyone on an FM set-up)
B)
Whatever You do,don't cheap out if You're going to get one.Go with a reputable brand name. The only one that I have used is the one I have now. They're not cheap though...expect to pay a couple hundred for a Chatterbox(or more).
Check Ebay,Bud.

I bought a set of Interphone-Bluetooth by Cellular Line units. They work absolutely fantastic! No wind noise at all - it's as clear as a cell phone and when your not talking as you don't hear any background noise, "constant on" with a 6-7 hour battery life which means none of that goofy voice activated missed first syllable or mid-sentence drop out, 700 hours of standby mode power, very small size, rechargeable, totally private unlike FSR and the like, can be snapped off of the mounting bracket on the helmet for charging or secure storage if you leave your helmet on the bike, very simple to use with just 3 buttons and most importantly... NO WIRES!!!

Not cheap but very much so worth it, $480 with shipping and insurance for the pair.

Here are some photo's of it on my HJC CL-SP's and the link to the site where I got them, (Rob at Gimoto was very good to work with on all of my questions)

That thing looks pretty trick, I'll have to investigate those....

As for some of the comments made I agree, when it comes to headsets....you get what you pay for. Don't be cheap, get a good one.
