Always knew to look out for deer but....

...I never considered the possibility of a bear running in my path (or almost, fortunately). Driving home from the Pocono Mtns. in PA today, headed through Western NJ on a relatively major two-lane road but had nobody in front of me and nobody behind. Out of the corner of my left eye I see something big pop out of the woods. Well, big was a relative term since black bears really aren't that big and this one appeared to still a juvenile. He stepped out into the opposite lane as if he wanted to cross but took one look at me about 100 feet from him and high tailed it back to the woods. Not really a near-miss but an interesting sight.

Wow that's sort of cool. It could have been a disaster. Now you have something else to look out for.

Driving a truck, I had to dodge deer, bears, elk, moose, mountain lion, coyotes, and wild boar, thankfully I have never had to deal with them on a bike :woohoo:

My Fire Dept got called to a motorcycle crash on a winding country highway a few years back. Husband and wife on a big Harley, lying in the middle of the road. They weren't too sure what happened, but judging from the puddles of thick blood and the fur stuck to the womans face, they pounded a big moose. The woman had done a face plant into the flank of the critter.
Harley was wrecked.:S

My friend and I were riding through the mountains in BC on a motorcycle trip and we met a bear. My friend was leading (I was letting him;) ) and I was following not too close behind. He blasted through a section of twisties and then a small bear ran across the road in front of me. I didn't hit it but I couldn't believe that bear split our bikes.

LOL, add snake to your list. I was behind a truck a few weeks ago that suddenly slowed down which put me much closer to him than I wanted to be and ultimately did not give me time to react to a large rattle snake that suddenly appeared in the middle of the lane from under the truck. All I could do was swing my feet up in the air and pray it couldn't reach up and bite my ass. The truck had slowed down to about 15 mph so speed was not on my side.
