After browsing google maps looking for interesting ride possibilities, I saw a "River Road", that runs along the Shenandoah river (imagine that!) near me. Looked interesting, so I went to find it this afternoon. It was a nice ride, great weather and scenery, but all along the riverside were private picnic / campsites - absolutely nowhere to pull off that was not chained or gated. Bummed me out - not pics of the bike and the river. Here are a couple pics from where I could stop. Two are of a curve that is basically a U-turn in the road, and the other just a nice shot of the bike and the awaiting road. I really need to get the video camera mounted!

Right on Jim...looks great!
I like those narrow roads like that...reminds Me of biking in Europe.

It was about 60-some, all in all. I like the narrow ones, but the lack of a center stripe had me nervous in the curves. When there was a car coming the other way, more than half the time, he was on my side, and I had to either go wide or tight, depending on the curve. I am still a rookie! :S I wished I could have taped the ride, but I am sure I would have been razzed good for the speed of my turns! ;)

Whoa, kzwolf, those are some impressive vistas! I will take those as a challenge and try to come up with something over the weekend. I chose the river road since I want some shots with the river in the background - which is why I was especially bummed about all the private land along that stretch.

And I AM an old rider, just without a lot of experience! :P
