"Turd" (or Bike) of the Month was created by Wheelhop
I thought I would start a new thread topic called "Bike/Turd Of The Month" but I will let you guys decide where this goes
Just picked up this fairly complete 1979 KZ1000 LTD with only 11,200 miles on the clock.  The sticker on the plate says last registered in 1984.
So only a little more than 2,200 miles a year for five years and then "Put Away Wet".  Might be a good spot for guys to post recent "barn finds" or project bikes awaiting restorations?

I got the bike for a good price, so my plan right now is to clean it up, get carbs / brakes sorted, new tires, handlebars, battery, exhaust ( whew, I'm getting tired just typing all that!)  My brother lives around the corner from me and he expressed an interest in getting a bike to ride so I may offer it to him?

You are right about that!  I found a guy about 90 miles away from me who has an original exhaust in decent condition I may get for it.

Maybe you could run a "parallel feature" to bike of the month, maybe "concours de lemon" with this gem and Moose's "Woodstock tribute"
I have to say though it looks fairly complete and has "good bones"

Nice find!  Looks mostly original and must have been greatly loved at some point to have an exhaust like that.  Thanks for saving it.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Well Wheelhop after looking over the pics of your recent purchase I think your Turd comes out a winner!!!!
All that rust just looks overwhelming. I'll be shipping you my crown and scepter you are now the King of Turds....

Wheelhop and I were talking over the phone and he offered to trade his Turd for mine and I busted out laughing
