How to get owner history -74 model Z1A was created by increasing
I have a Z1A according to this website...
www.z1enterprises.com/blog/kawasaki-z1-kz900-numbers-guide/

Which according to the Norwegian Vehicle Register www.vegvesen.no was first registered on 31/12/1974, most likely a used import from the USA and registered in Norway on 17/09/1997, of which I have a full ownership history after it arrived here in the country.

Is there any possibility to track owner history on a bike from the USA by VIN ?

If it has a white sticker on the headstock it may also have been imported from Canada.  I don't know of any way to track its history in North America.  I know of a data base that contains limited information on some (emphasis on some) Z1 bikes.  You will have to join this forum.   www.kawasaki-z-classik.com/forum/index.p...54ddc7026a655d85d8a0

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

In the U.S. each state keeps its own vehicle records. In some states, that information is not too difficult to obtain, in others, nearly impossible. If the owner lived in more than one state, then each of those state agencies would have a piece of the record. If an owner sold it to a person living in a different state, then the information generally does not follow the motorcycle. In the case of a fifty year old machine, it is quite likely that most of the records have been destroyed.

Thanks for reply! Yes, the bike is 50 years :) The period in the USA is December 1974 to September 1997

In Norway, all vehicle history that is not digitally stored in a paper register and can be retrieved on request. Very good!

What history are you wishing to find?

I have other bikes where I have ownership history from day one, the most detailed of course contain registration date, change of ownership date, names of owners. Some bikes have had many owners, others very few. What I'm doing with this, just to document the history of the bike, you can read quite a lot from re-registration dates, owners, maybe where the bike was sold new, etc. In some cases I compare owner history with service history, both say a lot about the bike.

As Texas said, each state has their own rules.  You can add 10 provinces in Canada to that list.

If you have a record of the person who brought the bike into Norway you might try contacting him for any history he is aware of.

Yes if you have any info from the last USA owner he would be your best bet to fin anything about the bike.

Then it becomes difficult... I bought the motorcycle from the widow of the man who had bought and imported the motorcycle. Since he is dead, I don't want to bother the family.
