Just Tragic!

With me and my husband being new riders, my mom, who has been riding for years is always giving us tips and pointers as I know she is very concerned that we always use extra caution. She always uses an expression..."Cage drivers are the worst" always be looking over your shoulder! The other day she sent me this story from the paper back home.

It's just awful! How could one miss a group of EIGHT bikers stopped behind other vehicles at a red light!!! So sad!

The sad part is that since that report came out, at least one another person has died out of the injured ones. This was posted by one of the local members the day it happened. This is really sad. Just because he was doing his paperwork.

Apparently there was more to it than just not paying attention and thumbing through paperwork.....

Toxo reports completed in record time after the accident showed METH in his system!!!

Yup... Being a local here, this has caused some real concern and angst among ALL riders. Recent televised reports a history of meth use but one week previous to this tragedy, he had a previous accident...

Sad when you break it down to lowest factoring... Not only has he destroyed so many others lives but his own as well... All for what, a puff to catch a buzz, to be paranoid all the time...

Just doesn't make much sense....

I was born and raised in Glendale OMR, this horrible accident happened not too far from my Parents home, both of whom also ride. I can't believe a similar incident happend a week prior!! Being in AZ, do you have any idea how the remaining 4 victims are doing? All in ICU, but I couldn't find anything on any of their progress?

This is just sickening. I hope the surviving riders are going to be OK. It sucks that shit happen like this everyday.

I know that since I heard about this accident, that I watch my "6" at stoplights/signs. Stay in first gear, watch the mirrors, have an escape route planned, and flash the brake lights when cars are approaching. Also wear high visibility clothing and get seen. One of those tips that you learn in the MSF course.

My husband says the same thing testorosasa! I checked with a friend of mine back home who's boy friend work for the Phoenix PD, and she said the fure capt, who was the worst injured will prob never walk again! Sooo sad, not sure on the other 3? She said the truck driver is being charged with 4 counts of manslaughter, 10 counts of endangerment, and some other charges she could not recall. It's just amazing to me that this guy had an accident like a week prior and the company didn't investigate!?! WTF!! I know if my husband so much as cuts his finger at work, he's gonna get a drug test!! I can't belive that some who shares the roads with the public everyday wouldn't be treated in the same manner!! Maybe this company needs to be investigated for negligence!!!?

i hate sitting at stop signs and try and do the same safe practice routines..without fail at every stop..it's second nature now for years too start my scanning when the lights change any colors , cause i don't wanna ever wake up in the i.c.u after a ride...i am always looking for a place to go if a car does'nt appear to be slowing....i also play a mental game each ride where i'm the ship and all cars are the astroids...it is to where i do not even notice i'm playing....if soemones high/drunk and they hit me....it's my fault.....because i'm the final word on what happens when i put on my helmet...were they wearing helmets?

We lost two beautiful 17 yr old girls last week...in my towns..car full of volleyball girls leaving a late night practice ran a light at 10:30 p.m,they brought the families to my work and i had to escort em away from the E.R to a waiting room 30-50 people all night long coming in asking what i knew? and the coroner did not get there for 45 min....dead quiet...and folks trying to read my face..i was'nt allowed to tell them what i knew,but i knew...their girls would not be coming in on the next ambulance or siren...they went to the morgue....
when they finaly found out the wales and screams covered the foggy still parking lot for hours till about 3 a.m..boyfriends in small groups on the curbs crying together girlfriends showing up in pajamas at 4 a.m crying aunts,uncles,teachers,priests ,i had to park em out in the street there were so many.....i was crying when no one could see me.....one girl had just called her mom to say they were on their way home and hung up and was gone....i'm not trying to news monger.....it just was so not needed i am hoping to stress driving extra carful is all...PLEASE DRIVE SAFE ...headlights on...i even weave coming up to left turn cars to get their eyes on me.....peace craig
