I called my trip last summer "South by Northwest". I invite you all to check out the blog of the trip at

inline79.blogspot.com

and here's my favourite video (hope this works):

If you look at photos in the blog you will notice that I have full Givi panniers on the Versys while splitting those lanes.

I should also add that being the nice Canadian Kid I wasn't going to split any lane, legal or not. But I was sitting in traffic and this guy in this SUV was yelling at me to go so I did and never looked back.

In a word...Beautiful

How are you ever going to top that? (In other words, what are your plans for this summer?)

If they include a trip through Vegas let me know.

we got some l.a guys on here that probably know more about lane splitting than me...but....i was commuting to work on my 900 last summer and did the lane split thing in the morning and at night ....then i stopped cuase it would get me to where i was gonna kick someones head in...folks would move in on you just to be jerks and after two or three of them each trip i said ,,,this is gonna make me angry so why do it...i started either getting up earlier or leaving work at a different time........you gotta be ultra agressive to split lanes and be a succses...i just let it go...nice video....once in a while is o.k

I'm afraid if the unthinkable happens your (life)insurance company would say it was a suicide and refuse to pay off. (And ya know they might be right) I bet they would have a lot of ticked off witnesses to testify. Chances are the majority of us have moved up a space or two in a jam but keep it up and like Mcdroid said... somebody's going to get stupid...you or them. It's dangerous enough out there without coming up in blind spots between moving bricks and p___ks. CLUE....it rhymes! :side:

Its the way we ride in Cali. Most of the cage drivers here are more than aware of it. Due to the boom in biking, people tend to move over or at least be cool about it. As long as you aren't screaming by them at 80 when traffic is stopped or at 10mph, you're good. Anybody who moves over on you usually gets "the look", or a honk, or a busted mirror so, they don't do it often. I had my bike in Vegas and found it difficult NOT to split lanes.

I knew there was a reason I stayed out of Texas.

Looks like you had a great time Conway.

The music you put to the video just adds to the fear factor for me. Don't think I'd be doing it! Lane splitting that is.
I'm sure it wasn't as bad as it seems, if your careful.
