After a few cups of coffee we decided to take a walk to driftwood beach. Took about 15-20 minutes to walk there, if your ever in the area I recommend going to see it.......it was kind of eerie.

So after our early morning stroll on the beach we broke camp, packed up and headed to our first stop which was only a few miles away still on Jekyll Island. The Horton House. He was the original European settler of the island back in the 1730s.

He and some of his family were buried on site.

Then a little jaunt over the bridge to old Brunswick GA

Where we stopped at a rouughly 900 year old oak called "Lovers Oak"

After that everything went to hell. Remember the blown fuses from yesterday? It happened again.

And again

And again

I only had a variety pack of fuses so I had to start using larger and larger ones.........this made me nervous so I stopped here.

And got these

By this point we were getting very hot and fatigued so decided to just head home (another 100 miles) with no more smell the roses stops.

We learned 250+ miles in a day is just WAY too much for us. We are going to limit our days to under 200 miles, preferably closer to 150. We are on no schedule and have no deadline so distance per day means nothing to us.

Im still working on the video for the 2nd day, Ill post it up when Im done with it. We will be leaving on the real trip in about a week.................Im getting nervous

Did you find what was blowing the fuses? I'm thinking trailer.

Yeah I did. It wasnt really the trailer as far as wiring or anything but the trailer did add just enough load to overload the circuit. The main culprit is the Vetter trunk, it has 4 1157 bulbs. The bike rear fender has 2 1157 bulbs for a total of 6. Each bulb draws roughly 2 amps, thats 12 amps on a 10 amp circuit. It was actually drawing about 9.8 amps but I think as the day got hotter the resistance went up enough combined with the trailer to start blowing fuses.

Ive fixed it by switching everything over to LEDs, total draw is just over 5 amps now :)

I am interested to know what motor oil you are using, and how many miles you can travel before a quart needs to be added.
Beautiful bike, BTW!
