Hi all. I am starting my second winter season rebuilding the Frankenbike. The motor is a '77 KZ1000 and when I split the cases I damaged the edge of the lower half. I also found that the crankshaft looks like it had been hammered on with dents on the counterweights. The past few months I've acquired a '76 KZ900 and '80 kz1000 parts bikes. Are the bottom ends of either of them usable for my bike? I seem to recall reading that the 900 and 1000 cranks can be swapped. True? How about the lower case? I really would appreciate any feedback.

u should be.. i just swap a z1r1000 block and pistons on my z1 900.. i also have a 78 kz1000 block that would work too..:woohoo:

73 z1900 street nitrous drag bike(powered but honda)
83 kz750 turbo street fighter project

The 77 1000 crank has the same part numbers as the 77 B1, 78 B2, 78 C1. # 13031-056

The 76 900A4 crank shows the same part number from 73 to 76 models. # 13031-043

The 80 KZ 1000 B4 shows two different crank part numbers. However, both only cover 79 and 80 models. # 13031-1024 and # 13031-1040

It doesn't look like any of your spare cranks swap over. I'm not saying that it wont work, but it looks crappy from a part number/interchangability perspective.
