From NGK:
www.ngk.com/how-long-do-ngk-iridium-plugs-last

From Denso (ND):
www.denso.com/global/en/products-and-ser...ies/plug/basic/life/

We've run ND W24ES-U in our Z1's for decades.  They run fine.  Re-gap a few times & they last a very long time.  We often see them languishing at swap meets because people don't know them or the ND brand.  We snap up every ND W24ES and ES-U we see.

We've also seen sets of NOS Splitfire SF 406C plugs gathering dust at swap meets.  Same threads, reach & heat range as NGK B8ES.  Have a set in a Z1 now w/ 3,000+ miles on them. They run fine.

Beware of counterfeit NGK plugs.  They're more common than one might think.

Just use the correct NGK or equivalent recommended grade non resistor plug.
The only improvement needed to the stock points ignition system would be an electronic upgrade such as Dyna 'S' and higher output coils to counter spark suppression at higher rpms and cylinder pressures.
Our 250hp turbo drag bike runs just fine on NGK B9ES plugs.

You should only ever run one source of resistance if any such as a resistor cap or a resistor plug.
Two sources of resistance such having both a resistor cap and a resistor plug will cause weak spark and poor running.
Resistance is only needed to dampen radio interference for TV's, Radios and sensitive onboard electronics so not really needed at all unless you have some sort of onboard computer that may be affected.
Most modern vehicles use resistor plugs due to the abundance of electronic devices and sensors fitted.

Yeah, the precious metals just help the plug to last longer.
Which helps if your plugs are hard to get at in your car.
You'll have to only change them every 100,000 miles if you get the iridiums.
No need to have them on a motorcycle.
