Considering taking a job offer just north of L.A. and would like to take the bikes. I allready know I can't take my truck:( but I'll deal with that in my own way. Have heard they a wicked mean about this. Still it frost me that I have gone from what would consider good gas milage "14 mpg" from an 87 chevy 3/4 ton with 4.10 gear and no overdrive to "19 mpg" with same drivetrain but would flunk emissions with flying colors. Sorry for rambling and TIA.

Welcome to bi-annual smog test! It sucks, but it does help keep some crap off the streets. Usually the crap cars/trucks driven by people we don't need on the streets anyhow.

You don't have to worry about your bikes though...at least I don't think so. Check with the CA DMV.

So long as his bikes are already registered, he won't have any worries.
