size of needle bearing thrust 'washer' for clutch

I've seen some adverts for a little doodad that's supposed to do a better job than the pushrod ball in disengaging the 'mushroom' from the clutch pushrod. In the pix it looks like a very thin thrust bearing or needle bearing thrust washer.

I'm gonna be doing some clutch work and wonder if:

a)anyone has installed one of these and does it do the job of preventing that little ball from wearing into and eventually coupling to the pushrod.

b)anyone knows the dimensions so that if I decide to put one in I can order it on Tue when I order a mess of other bearings.

I welded the steel ball to the clutch pushrod while coasting to a stop during a wot chop carb jetting exercise. The result was not pretty, the clutch release pushed straight through the chain cover. A needle bearing clutch pusher is in my 1260 motor. APE sells them for $17, pretty cheap insurance.

OK, I was a little concerned. I have the pushrod out and it's evident the ball/rod-end contact area has grown quite a bit. Was just gonna grind the end flat again, but since I'm pulling the basket I thought...maybe that washer's a good idea.

I've seen the APE. It looks liek standard part though and since I'm ordering bearings fro the bearing shop on Tuesday could incluse in order and save on shipping one part from APE.

Anyone know dimensions or bearing number?

The bearing is only part of it. The bearing alone won't do you any good.

I look at the way the pusher works and I look at the photo of the APE kit and I see no magic. What am I missing?

Thanks. If you are messing around with the calipers and it won't put you out...
Can you tell me the diameter of the shaft, the diameter of the flat
bearing surface, the height, and the thickness of the flat, I can figure out what size washer to order.
I know they only cot $23 from Z1, but I like to make stuff and the bearing
is only a couple of bucks.

If it's a hassle, no worries. I'll dig up info somewhere.

I wouldn't just slip a thrust bearing between the stock pusher and the spring plate. The APE pusher has a hub to capture the bearing.

Thanks. This is enough info to order a bearing and scrounge a piece of stock for turning when I'm ready to put the thing in. Landlord is letting me run the lathe on my own now :-) He is going to be doing a bunch of Aluminum MIG welding in the next few weeks and will let me get in some practice on his produciton line. Might have a go at fabricating an Al swing arm if my welds get good enough.
